Save up to $234 (or more) in service fees every year with Unfee.

Unfee means we will refund your monthly account fee and qualifying transaction fees on the first day of each month, so you bank for free.

For example, with a Premium Chequing Account, we would refund your monthly account fee of $19.50, plus any other qualifying service fees, saving you a minimum of $234 each year.

To qualify for Unfee, you simply need a monthly direct deposit in your Cambrian personal chequing or savings account (all personal banking accounts qualify except US Dollar Account).

How do I open a Cambrian banking account?

Step 1:
Complete the account application

Choose the way that you want to open a banking account with Cambrian:

1. Mobile App*

  • Download our mobile app and click “Join Today” on the homepage.
  • You can complete the account opening process start to finish.

2. Online*

  • Complete the Online Application Form.
  • You will need to visit a Cambrian branch with your valid photo ID to complete the account opening.

3. Book a meeting

Book online to meet with an advisor who can assist you with opening your account, in-person at a branch or via video. You will need to present your valid photo ID at a Cambrian branch to complete the account opening.

Note: Joint accounts and Minors will need to visit a branch to open an account.

You will require the following information:

  • Personal information including name, date of birth, contact information, address and Social Insurance Number (SIN)
  • Employment information, if applicable, including employer and length of employment
  • Valid government-issued photo identification like a driver’s license or passport


* Accounts opened using the mobile app or the online application form will default to the Premium Chequing Account. You can request a different account (ex. Basic Chequing, Standard Chequing or Premium Savings) by contacting us or visiting a branch.

Step 2:
Make a deposit

Your account will not be fully activated until you make your initial deposit.

We will deduct $5 from your initial deposit for your Cambrian member share.  Your member share will be deposited to your Share Account which will display on your monthly statement.

Automatic Funds Transfer (AFT)

In the mobile app or in the online application form, you can select AFT to transfer funds from another bank account.  You will need the bank account information including account number, route and transit number.

Cheque

You can write a cheque payable to yourself and select “Deposit” in our mobile app to deposit the cheque electronically. Be sure to write your new Cambrian account number on the front of the cheque.

Branch

Visit any Cambrian branch to make a deposit in-person. You will need the same photo ID you used to open your account.

Note that deposits may be subject to a 7-day hold.

Step 3:
Setup your account

Login to Cambrian Online Banking or the Cambrian Mobile App with your temporary password and setup your security settings including your password, Two-Factor Authentication, account alerts and more.

Setup a monthly direct deposit in your account to qualify for Unfee free banking.

  • Download the Preauthorization Credit Form to setup automatic deposit of your payroll or pension, or to setup automatic deposit of government benefits.

Pick up your ATM/Debit Card at any Cambrian branch location or send us a Secure Message in Cambrian Online Banking to have it mailed to you.

Can you open a banking account online?

1. You can open an account, start to finish, using the Cambrian Mobile App.  Click "Join Today" on the homepage of our app.

2. You can complete our online application. Click "Apply" on the homepage of our website and select "Apply for Membership".

3. You can book online to meet via video to open your account. 

Note: For 2) & 3), you will need to present valid photo ID at a Cambrian branch to complete the account opening.

How do I download your mobile banking app?

Should I open a Savings account or a Chequing account?

Many of our members open a Chequing account for their daily banking and a Savings account to save up for a special project or occasion.

  • Our Premium Chequing Account provides you the best value, including more free transactions and cheques.
  • Our Premium Savings account gives you a high interest rate plus day-to-day banking transactions.

And you can bank for free when you set up a monthly direct deposit in your Chequing or Savings account; we will refund your banking fees automatically every month.

Can anyone open an account at Cambrian Credit Union?

Manitoba residents 18 years and older can open a Cambrian account online, via our mobile app or at the branch. You must have a Canadian Credit File and valid government-issued photo I.D. (ex: driver’s license).

Manitoba residents less than 18 years can open a Cambrian account at the branch. You may require a parent or guardian signature unless you are able to provide the required documentation like valid government-issued photo ID (ex. driver’s license).

Do you offer Apple Pay / Google Pay / Samsung Pay?

You can use Apple Pay, Samsung Pay and Google Pay with your Cambrian chequing and savings accounts and your Cambrian Credit Union Mastercard®.

Set up Samsung Pay

  1. Download the Samsung Pay app from Samsung Galaxy Apps on your eligible Samsung device.
  2. Open the app on your device and sign into your Samsung Account.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to add your Cambrian ATM/Debit card or Cambrian Credit Union Mastercard®

Set up Apple Pay

  1. Open Apple Pay
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions
  3. Verify your card using the Cambrian Mobile App or by contacting us.

Set up Google Pay

  1. Download Google Pay from the Google Play Store.
  2. Open the Google Pay app.
  3. Tap the (+) sign.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to add your Cambrian Credit Union ATM/Debit card or Cambrian Credit Union Mastercard®
