Digital payments make our lives easier. With over one billion transactions since the service launched, e-Transfers offer unparalleled convenience when it comes to sending and receiving money virtually.

On October 22, Interac is launching a brand refresh to provide an improved user experience as well as set up for future product enhancements.

That means e-Transfer email notifications will soon have a new look and feel.

There is no action is required on your part. The Interac brand refresh won’t affect any of your e-Transfer or Autodeposit settings – they’ll work the same as before, but with a new look and feel. For more information, visit Interac.ca.

Starting October 22, you’ll notice updated branding with e-Transfer email notifications, including:

  • Autodeposit send, receive, and registration notifications
  • Q&A Receive and send notifications
  • Request Money notifications

Here’s a preview of what those new emails will look like:

Scammers often try to take advantage of technology to trick and deceive people into sending them money. They may take this opportunity to target those who are unfamiliar with the changes.

Take this time as an opportunity to refresh your memory on the safest e-Transfer practices!

How to confirm if your e-Transfer emails are legitimate:

  • Contact the sender through another channel to verify their identity.
  • Hover your mouse over any links to see if they lead to suspicious websites.
  • Think about whether you were expecting this e-Transfer or if it could be an attempt at fraud.
  • Inspect the email address of the sender closely. Does it match previous e-Transfer emails, or does it appear altered in some way?

Remember: If you suspect that the email notification that you have received is fraudulent, do not click on any links and contact your financial institution immediately.

“I had a wonderful experience at Cambrian. I've been with the same institution for the last 21 years and all the fees and restrictions have finally pushed me into wanting to make some changes.

My advisor was prepared for my arrival with all the documents ready and waiting. He took the time to go over each one...”
