In 2025, three (3) Director positions are up for election, each for a 3-year term. Six (6) members have allowed their name to stand as candidates for these positions. Of these candidates, the THREE with the highest number of votes will be elected to fill the vacancies on the Board of Directors.

Your Board works to ensure it is comprised of Directors with the necessary experience, skills, competency and diversity needed to provide the required level of oversight. For this year’s call for nominations, it was determined that qualified candidates with the following skills and experience would best complete the needs of the Board:

I am honoured to submit my candidacy for the Cambrian Board of Directors. As a professor and past dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Winnipeg, I hope to share my experience in strategic leadership, innovation, and governance. I would bring a deep commitment to fostering growth, collaboration, and impactful decision-making.
Over my career, I have developed a strong expertise in areas such as organizational strategy, digital transformation, and community engagement. My research and professional practice focus on creating innovative solutions for complex challenges, aligning closely with the values and goals of this board. I believe in building bridges between stakeholders to advance shared objectives, and I am passionate about using evidence-based approaches to guide decision making and policy development.
Having served in leadership roles in academia, in my own consulting firm, and in economic development corporations, I have honed the ability to listen attentively, synthesize diverse perspectives, and drive consensus. These qualities, coupled with my experience in governance, make me well-equipped to contribute meaningfully to the strategic vision and long-term success of this organization.

I am a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), Certified General Accountant (CGA) and have gained significant expertise during my 40-year career. I have worked in public accounting, in private and quasi-government organizations as Controller, and 26 years at the City of Winnipeg in Corporate Finance, preparing reports and providing information to city councillors. While at the City, I progressed in responsibilities and spent the last seven years as the manager over-seeing the review of the operating budget in excess of $2.5 billion. During my time with the City, I also became a member of the Finance Management Institute – Manitoba chapter, Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of Canada, and a committee member organizing a GFOA Western Canada conference. I was honoured to be selected by my superiors for enrollment in the Schulich School of Business – York University and achieved a Masters Certificate in Municipal Leadership.
As a loyal Cambrian member of 39 years, I appreciate the exceptional service I receive. As a past member of the Cambrian Credit Union board of directors, I served as chair of the Audit and Nominating Committees, and as a member of the Executive Committee in the role as Vice-Chair of the board, and on the Risk Oversight Committee. Contributing to Cambrian’s significant asset growth and technological advancements during my time on the board has been both exciting and a privilege. I have taken numerous courses and seminars relating to the credit union system and continuing director and professional development. In these times of increasing government regulation and compliance requirements, it is crucial to make immediate contributions to the Cambrian board, and I am confident I can do that. As a director, I would strongly represent the members and their money, and I would greatly value your support.
I have passionately given of my time to the community, volunteered as Assistant Treasurer and Treasurer at my local church, mentored and led high school boys through structured programs and sports activities. I also served as a board member for a non-profit / charitable organization, including Chair of Trustees, coached community sports for 13 years in softball, baseball and volleyball, and currently volunteer with two local churches.
I value the time I spend with my wife of 42 years, our three adult children and spouses, and seven grandchildren. Family times and activities, including camping and road trips, are cherished and very important to me.
I want to continue to serve Cambrian’s membership through my experience in, and knowledge of, the credit union system.

Over the past nine years, I’ve had the privilege of serving on the board, including three years as Chair of the Risk Oversight Committee. In this role, I’ve helped shape the organization’s governance, risk management, and cybersecurity frameworks.
My professional journey spans over 25 years in executive leadership roles in cybersecurity and Information Technology. I am a firm believer in lifelong learning and continuous improvement, holding a Master of Science in Information Technology and certifications as a Chief Information Security Officer and Information Security Management, along with the prestigious Institute of Corporate Directors Certification. I thrive on leading large-scale projects under pressure and take pride in developing and empowering teams to achieve success.
As Chair of the Risk Oversight Committee, I’ve worked closely with Cambrian’s leadership to ensure strong governance and oversight in response to the rapidly expanding cyber threat landscape and evolving regulatory requirements. I’ve provided key insights on strengthening Cambrian’s digital operations, enhancing cybersecurity policies, and improving risk reporting to identify and mitigate emerging risks early. I’m committed to ensuring Cambrian maintains a proactive stance on risk management and compliance in an industry increasingly shaped by sophisticated cyber threats and stringent regulations.
My passion for serving Cambrian’s members and employees is evident in my dedication to safeguarding their assets and building a sustainable future. On a personal note, I am proud to call Charleswood home, where my family and I enjoy everything this vibrant community has to offer. One of my favorite activities is biking the Harte Trail to Assiniboine Park and exploring the breathtaking flowers at the Leo Mol Sculpture Garden. Family means everything to me. Living with my mother and son, we often visit The Leaf and Assiniboine Park together, creating lasting memories.

I am proud to put my name forward for election to the board of Cambrian Credit Union, one of the largest, most well-respected credit unions in Manitoba. As a senior executive with extensive credentials, over 40 years of professional experience, and over 30 years of board and committee experience, I bring a wealth of career and board knowledge for your consideration.
After completing two university degrees from the University of Manitoba, I earned several professional designations including Chartered Professional Accountant, Certified Professional Accountant (Illinois), Chartered Business Valuator, and ICD.D (Institute of Corporate Directors) and have been awarded the Fellow of the Chartered Professional Accountants (FCA, FCPA) designation for conspicuous service to the profession.
I currently run an accounting and taxation firm and also am a Senior Advisor at Osborne Interim Management, a national consulting and advisory firm. Previously, I have held roles at the Winnipeg School Division as Chief Financial Officer and Secretary-Treasurer, the University of Manitoba as Vice President Administration, the Winnipeg Regional Authority as its inaugural Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer, and at PBSC Computer Training Centres as Vice-President Finance. I have also held managerial roles in broadcasting, transportation, and in public practice with Deloitte. Within these roles, I had broad portfolios beyond finance that included functions such as information technology, human resources, procurement, capital planning, and facilities management.
I have served on the following boards: the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Manitoba (Council President), the Healthcare Employees Pension Plan (Board Chair), Diagnostics Services Manitoba (Audit Committee Chair) and the Financial Executives International (Chapter President). In addition to serving on various committees of the organizations previously mentioned, I have also served on committees of other boards including the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (Qualifications, Inter-Provincial Education), the Healthcare Employees Benefits Plan (Audit) and the Winnipeg School Division Non-Teachers Pension Plan (Investment). Additionally, I have had exposure to a multitude of boards as part of my senior management duties.
As well, I have served on volunteer boards and committees including the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra, Research Manitoba, and Oseredok. I have also coached minor basketball with the Junior Bisons.

Over the past four years as Chair, and since joining the board in 2016, I have had the privilege of serving in various leadership roles, including Vice Chair, Audit Chair, and Nominating Committee member. I have contributed meaningfully to Cambrian's long-term strategy by demonstrating an unwavering commitment to our vision and mission, and by embracing open dialogue and transparent communication with management. My work experience includes over 23 years with a large Canadian financial institution, including senior leadership roles in wealth management, commercial banking and branch management. My deep knowledge of financial services, combined with my credit risk expertise and strategic planning experience, helps inform the board. Through a collective process, we were able to realize a new digital vision for Cambrian that received unanimous board approval. By embracing new technologies and approaches, we can streamline our operations, enhance member experiences, and position ourselves for long-term success.
I bring a wealth of experience in strategy, governance, and leadership to the table, having worked with organizations such as CPA Manitoba and Canada. As an Executive in Residence for the University of Manitoba Asper School of Business, I've been able to share my insights and expertise with the next generation of business leaders.
I was recently appointed as a director representing Cambrian on the board of Credit Union Central of Manitoba. As a Chartered Professional Accountant with an MBA from Dalhousie University and the recipient of the FCPA in 2007 for dedicated service to the accounting profession and community, I am eager to bring my expertise and insights to this important organization.

Throughout my diverse career, I have experienced many rewarding opportunities. The most fulfilling position I held was as the former CEO of Harvest Manitoba (2018-2022), previously known as Winnipeg Harvest. Serving Manitobans in need, especially during the pandemic, was the greatest challenge and the most rewarding part of my job.
As a self-employed consultant, I’m passionate about equipping boards of directors and executive teams with the knowledge to enhance governance, propel strategic planning, navigate transformations, and manage risks effectively. I was honoured to be selected as the Inaugural Leader in Residence at the James W. Burns Leadership Institute at the Asper School of Business, University of Manitoba (2022-2024). In this role, I had the pleasure of sharing my leadership experiences and mentoring some of Manitoba’s most talented student leaders.
Education is a cornerstone of my journey. I hold a Bachelor’s in Sociology from the University of Manitoba, a Bachelor’s in Administrative Studies from the University of Winnipeg, and a Master of Arts in Leadership from Trinity Western University in British Columbia. In addition, I have also earned four certifications in change management and the Institute of Corporate Directors Designation (ICD.D) in 2022 to enhance my contributions on boards. I am passionate about making a positive impact in leadership every day.
I have had many individuals support me along my journey, and I believe in giving back to the community. I have dedicated over 30 years to this cause through volunteering, coaching, and mentoring. I have served on various volunteer boards across sectors, including public service, charities, NGOs, academia, professional organizations, and community-based initiatives. My experience includes serving on various board committees, including finance and audit, governance, human resources and compensation, nominating, and risk management.
I most recently served two terms on the Manitoba Shared Health Board, where I chaired the Quality, Risk and Performance Management committee and sat on the Governance committee. I am an Executive Member of the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD) Manitoba Chapter. I serve on the J.W. Burns Leadership Advisory Council, Asper School of Business, University of Manitoba, the Trinity Western Alumni Advisory Council, University of Trinity Western BC., and serve as mentor and lecturer in the President Leadership Student Program in the J. W. Burns Leadership Institute and a judge at the MBA Case Competition at the Asper School of Business at the University of Manitoba.
