How do I apply for a savings account online?
Option 1: Open an account in minutes with our online application or using our Mobile App. (Opening an account online or with mobile app will automatically default to the Premium Chequing Account, but you will be able to change the account type when you pick up your ATM/Debit card in branch.)
To open an account online or via the app, you will require the following information:
- Personal information including name, date of birth, contact information, address and social insurance number (SIN
- Employment information, including where you are employed and for how long
- Valid photo identification
You will receive a confirmation email with next steps and we will review your application within one business day.
(If you apply as joint account holders, information will be required for both individuals.)
(Note that joint account holders cannot apply through the Mobile App.)
Option 2: Book a meeting online with one of our advisors (you can meet by video, phone or in person).
Login to Cambrian Online Banking or the Mobile App using your member number and temporary password then update your password.
Automatic Funds Transfer: in the online application or Mobile App, you can choose the AFT option to electronically transfer funds from another bank account.
Cheque: you can write a personal cheque to yourself, login to the Cambrian Mobile App and select “Deposit” to take a picture of the cheque.*
Be sure to write your new Cambrian account number on the front of the cheque.
*Deposits may be subject to a 7-day hold.
Branch: you can make a deposit at any Cambrian branch location.
Please bring the identification used to complete the account application.
We will deduct $5 from your initial deposit to cover your Cambrian member share. Your member share will display on your monthly statement.
Be sure to follow these steps:
- Bank for Free with Unfee: Set up a monthly direct deposit, of any amount, in your account (ex. your pay or pension) and we will refund your service charges every month. To get started, give the Preauthorization Credit Form to your payroll department or pension provider.
- ATM/Debit Card: Get your card at any Cambrian branch location. Or send us a request via Secure Message in Cambrian Online Banking and we will mail it to you.
