Free Fridays: Ice skating

Nothing’s better for your budget than free - just ask The Unfee! So on Fridays we’ll be sharing our favourite free (or nearly free) things to do in Winnipeg and Manitoba!

The cold weather is here, and at this time of year, many people are looking to lace up their skates and do some skating. The City of Winnipeg operates several indoor and outdoor skating spaces, and skating is offered free of charge, making it a great way to get some exercise! The indoor rinks, which are open year round, offer public skating during certain hours of the week, and you can find those hours here.

Looking to head outdoors to skate? Not every skating pond or rink has opened yet, but you can find a list of ponds and rinks here. Before heading out to your local outdoor skating rink, it may be a good idea to call first to ensure it is open and to determine what their hours are.

If you’re looking to do some skating at The Forks, the Arctic Glacier Winter Park, which includes a 1 km skating trail on land as well as the rink under the canopy, is now open.
