Free Fridays: Canada Day festivities

Family Celebrating Canada Day

Nothing’s better for your budget than free (just ask The Unfee!). So on Fridays we’re sharing our favourite free or nearly free things to do in Winnipeg and Manitoba with you!

Every year around you can attend numerous Canada Day celebrations around Winnipeg, and enjoy live music, fireworks and other activities. Here are just a few of the major parties celebrating our country on July 1st.

Osborne Village Canada Day Street Celebration

Every year Osborne Village is a hub of activity at the Canada Day Street Celebration. Enjoy the Canada Day Classic Hockey Tournament, the Village Fashion Show, live entertainment, and even grab a free piece of cake at 1:00 at the Bell Tower Stage!

Canada Day at Assiniboine Park

Bring the whole family and enjoy the family-friendly programming at the Lyric Stage from 12:00 – 5:00 on Canada Day, as well as a variety of children’s characters to greet your little ones. Please note that this year there will not be any fireworks or activities in the evening at Assiniboine Park.

Canada Day at The Forks

Head to The Forks for a day of entertainment, including a performance by the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra with Mise en Scene. Looking to learn how to dance? Head to the canopy for a variety of dance lessons and demos throughout the day. Kids can visit the MTYP Canada Day Open Studio to make their own puppet or the Kids Fringe for colouring. Cap your day off at 11:00 pm with the fireworks show!
