Festival du Voyageur has been bringing joie de vivre to our long winters since 1970 and Western Canada's largest winter festival is back once again to kick our winter blues to the curb. Take advantage of our mild weather this weekend and check out today's opening day events!

Torch Light Walk

6:30pm | Main entrance of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights

Gather at the main entrance of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights for a candle lit walk to Voyageur Park. The first 100 participants even get a free day pass to Voyageur Park!

Opening Celebration

Take in the official kick-off celebration at Voyageur Park!

Global News Green Screen Booth

5:00pm – 9:00pm | Souvenir Tent

Have you ever wanted to have your picture taken in a Voyageur setting? Using green screen technology, the Global News booth will make that dream come true! They will also be on location for Louis Riel Day and on February 24.

Beard Growing Contest

8:00pm | Université de Saint-Boniface Portage Tent, Voyageur Park

While you may not necessarily have what it takes to compete in the 35th Beard Growing Contest, you should still check out modern-day voyageurs compete in five different categories: the Festival Beard category, the Voyageur Beard category, the Novelty category, the Open category and the Frosty Beard Face category. All that is required to enter the latter category is a picture of your frosty winter beard along with the hashtag #FrostyHEHO – open to everyone over the age of 18!

Manitoba Film and Music Night
